Are you looking for a job in the care giving field? It can be quite competitive to get a job in this industry. There are plenty of people competing for the same job positions, making it more difficult to acquire employment.

But there are some things you can do to put yourself above the other applicants who are looking for a caregiver position. Your resume is the representation of yourself, so you should assemble it properly to ensure that you are showing everything you have to offer. It is important that you outline your experience and training in the field as well.

Creating Your Resume

Prior to writing your resume, you should sit in a quiet room and think about all of your qualities - write everything you come up with down on a list. Why should the care giving employer hire you? If you can answer this question, you are well on your way to creating a great resume. Next, you will need to a special resume specifically for the caregiver field. When employers are looking at your resume, they are looking at whether you are reliable, skilled and professional for the job they're offering.

Employers also want to ensure that you are indeed a caring person that is compassionate. If you can demonstrate on your resume these traits through the history of work or volunteer work, great. You should also highlight any areas that you have experience in for example if you've worked with a specific population, like hospice care, chronic or acute illnesses or individuals who have been severely injured.

You should also consider placing in your resume any complications you have faced during employment in the care giving field and how you were able to handle it. Also, keep your focus on skills that you have in the clinic setting. If you have experience with taking vital signs, withdrawing blood or caring for wounds, put this in your resume, along with any other skills you may have.
