Nurse Paralegal Jobs
Nurse paralegals do not restrict their Registered Nurse knowledge to just hospitals. They work as experts in the medical field wherever the need may be, such as HMOs, law practices, government facilities, journals of medicine, and insurance agencies.
Nurse paralegals work primarily a nurse, yet they are involved in using nursing knowledge in terms of law and legality. Nowadays, corporates want nurse paralegals who with extensive experience in their field can look at a case report or incident and quickly determine fault.
The main duties and responsibilities of a nurse paralegal include: identifying terminology abbreviations, acronyms, and creating summaries of each record; working with legal team on identifying medical records that correspond and relate to the legal issues set forth by the legal team; arranging legal documents; interviewing clients and specialized witnesses; researching medical records; and studying legal issues.
The ideal nurse paralegal candidate will be one who is able to review medical records and identify abbreviations, acronyms and terminology in medical records, and identify entries relating to specific legal issues and associated legal theories. He/she will have four or more years of nursing experience along with experience in a law firm or legal department identifying medical issues associated with legal theories and creating summaries of those records in the context of the identified legal theories. Familiarity with MS Word and Excel software platforms is a plus.
