Nurse Practitioner Jobs description
Nurse practitioners are professional caretakers. They take on various secondary care responsibilities, including administering anesthesia, midwifery tasks, and certain clinical treatments. Nurse practitioners often are the first healthcare workers to diagnose and treat illnesses and injuries. Nurse practitioners provide medical treatment to patients in medical facilities, such as clinics, health centers, and public health agencies, under the direction of a physician. Nurse practitioners also perform physical examinations and preventive health measures according to the given physician’s prescribed guidelines and instructions. A nurse practitioner may also order, interpret, and evaluate diagnostic tests to assess a patient's clinical problems, although licenses and privileges vary from state to state. Nurse practitioner salaries tend to be higher for those employed in general hospital settings than for nurse practitioners employed in schools or private practices.The educational requirements for becoming a nurse practitioner include a BSN (Bachelor of Science in Nursing) degree. Additional training is also needed, while for senior posts, a Master’s in Nursing is typically required.
