Private Duty CNA jobs description

A private duty CNA provides direct patient care, both medical and non-medical, in patients’ homes. Typically, a private duty CNA's work duties may include: taking vital signs; helping with some medical procedures; assisting patients in entering or leaving their beds; assisting patients in walking; tidying patient's rooms; answering call lights; making beds; delivering messages; monitoring patients and reporting changes; collecting samples for testing; providing patient hygiene; feeding patients; and monitoring food and liquid input/output.

Private duty CNAs have the: ability to give compassionate care to people who need help with activity of daily living from nutritional needs to hygiene needs; ability to work with people in a one-on-one setting and maintain a professional relationship with the client and their family; desire to work ethically and honestly with people in their homes; and the desire to improve the work environment to provide better care for our patient and fellow employees in the work setting.

The ideal private duty CNA will possess good communication skills written and verbal to convey needs of the patient with nurses and other health care.

Private duty CNA is an entry level position and as such CNAs receive the lowest salary of all nursing careers. However, the experience gained provides educational experience in preparation for an advanced nursing career.
