Under the general supervision of the Director of Practice Management and in collaboration with clinic physicians and clinic Medical Director performs Nurse Practitioner duties. Performs all duties in accordance to state law and licensure requirements.
Additionally, the position serves as a role model for ethical behavior and promotes an awareness and understanding of positive ethical and moral principles consistent with the Mission, Vision and Behavior Standards of Mercy Medical Center.
Essential Duties:
Assesses the health status, illness conditions, responses to illness, and health risks through history taking, physical examination, and laboratory data;
Diagnosing the actual or potential health problems or needs based on analysis of the data collected.
Planning therapeutic interventions with the client or the family;
Intervening to assist the client’s participation to the fullest extent. Intervention includes measures to promote health, manage chronic illness, or treat illness in its earliest stages to limit disability. Intervention may include but is not limited to direct nursing care, and consultation or referral to other healthcare providers; and
Evaluation of the effectiveness of care individually or over-all through regular care review of the client health status, or participation in institutional quality improvement activities.
Prescribes appropriate pharmacotherapy
Administers or orders diagnostic tests, such as X-ray, electrocardiogram, and laboratory tests, and interprets test results for deviations from normal.
Performs therapeutic procedures such as injections, immunizations, suturing and wound care, managing infection and others as outlined in Scope of Practice.
Develops and implements patient management plans records progress notes, assists in provision of continuity of care.','!*!
Education:
Master’s degree in Nursing from an accredited college or university.
Successful completion of an accredited Nurse Practitioner program (Family Practice or Internal Medicine preferred).
Experience:
1 - 5 years preferred.
License/Certification:
Family Nurse Practitioner Certificate
Advanced Practice Nursing License
DEA Registration
