The Family Birth Place Clinical Supervisor has responsibility for the day to day activities of the unit. She/he works closely with the Director of Women’s and Children’s Services, staff and physicians to provide optimal care in a changing health care environment. Position reports to the Director of Women’s and Children’s Services. Acts with minimal supervision in a professional capability.
Supervision of RNs, LPNs, CNAs in the Family Birth Place environment.
Accountable for adhering to Ogden Regional Medical Center (ORMC) mission. Meets behavioral expectations, (compassion, caring, and confidentiality); provides excellence in health care delivery; supports dignity of all persons; and demonstrates responsible stewardship of resources.
Assists with department staffing; hiring, evaluating, guiding, disciplining, scheduling of staff (CNAs, OB Techs, WCs, LPNs, and RNs) in conjunction with the Director of Women and Children’s Services.
Works closely with physicians and staff to maintain a cohesive health care team. Collaborates with NICU staff to provide optimal mother/baby care to patients/families.
Demonstrates ability to manage and coordinate patient care, maintaining departmental flow and directing the staff assignments.
Knowledgeable of all department equipment, trouble shoots as able, requests repairs and follows up to be sure equipment has been returned.
Utilizes problem solving skills in working with other departments to facilitate a team approach to care delivery.
Responsible for departmental policies and procedures, enforcing, reviewing, revising and writing new ones as needed.
Organizes and coordinates department meetings to include all staff members.
Available to assist with staffing as needed.
Utilizes effective assessment skills to perform physical and psychosocial assessments for patients, obtaining and reviewing relevant data, recognizing the scope of nursing practice and clinical limitations and correlating assessment findings in identifying patient problems with others.
Provides professional nursing care, including the administration of prescribed medications, comfort measures and treatments, utilizing nursing skills either independently or in conjunction with other health care team members. Documents care.
Provides education and guidelines to patient, family, community, students and other health care providers.
Demonstrates professional conduct and accountability, including understanding the legal consequences of nursing actions and patient’s rights and responsibilities during hospitalization and performing clinical practice within the nursing code of ethics and the Nurse Practice Act.
Demonstrates ongoing professional growth and development through professional journals, in-services and conferences. Maintains appropriate certifications (i.e., ACLS, BLS, TNCC, ENPC, PALS, etc.).
Follows guidelines that maintain safety for oneself, patients, visitors and co-workers and if classified as a category I or II employee under OSHA regulations, adheres to OSHA standards by wearing personal protective equipment, following universal precautions and being knowledgeable about blood borne pathogens.
Performs other duties as may be assigned.

Current licensure as an RN in the state of Utah.
Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing.
BSN preferred
Current certification as a BLS Healthcare Provider.
ACLS certification is recommended.
Previous hospital experience strongly preferred.
2 years Charge Nurse experience.
3 years of Obstetrics preferred.
Leadership and management experience is highly desired.
Current certification as a NALS, NRP, and STABLE Healthcare Provider. Fetal Heart Monitoring Experience Labor nurse within six months of hire.
